      Douglas Edwin Shelton Sr., 84, of Pembroke Road, Pembroke passed away 4:15PM Friday, September 19, 2014 at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, TN of natural causes. Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Mr. Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
      Mr. Shelton was born October 24, 1929 in Christian County, KY, the son of the late Earnest and Ethel Shrader Shelton. Douglas spent his earlier years working on the family farm. He was a staff Sergeant in the US Air Force where he served his country as a liaison between the French and Americans as an air traffic controller in Casablanca, after leaving the Air Force he retired as an air traffic controller for the Metro Nashville Airport, then he retired from Wikoff Color Corp. Douglas was a member of Southside Church of Christ; he was a former member of Donelson Church of Christ in Donelson, TN. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence and James Shelton; his sister, Gladys Caroland, Rubene Fiese, and Polly Swartz.
      Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gracie Ann Turner Shelton of Pembroke; his sons, Douglas Shelton Jr and his wife, Kathleen. of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Steven Shelton and his wife, Pamela of Donelson, TN; his daughter, Laura Bostick and her husband, Steve of Cadiz, KY; his brothers, Eugene Shelton of Pembroke and Glen Shelton of Huntsville, AL; nine grandchildren, Stephen Hackett, Casey Shelton, Sheena Adams, Shayla Hackett, Sara Shelton, Braeden Shelton, Hailey Shelton, Rheanna Bostick, and Adam Shelton; two step-grandchildren, Amy Carter, and Sarah Sloan, and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Pranger, and Caiden Adams; five step great-grandchildren, Kenneth Spears, Julian Carter, Keali Sloan, JJ Carter, and Camden Collins.
