DEATH SUMMONS MRS. VAUGHN, 89
• Was Grandmother of Man Killed in Automobile Accident
• Mrs. Betty Bryant Vaughn, grandmother of Vester V Vaughn who was killed in an automobile-truck accident in New Providence Saturday, died at 2:15 am today at her home, following a week's illness of complications incident to her advanced age of 89 years. She was never told of her grandson's tragic death. Funeral services will be held at Stampers Chapel Methodist church in Stewart county Wednesday morning, conducted by the pastor, the Rev P G Johnson. The funeral procession will form at the McReynolds chapel here. Burial will be in Stampers Chapel cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mrs Vaughn's surviving grandsons and great grandsons, including R E and A B, Melton, Carnell, McFerrin and Charles Vaughn. A native of Stewart county, Mrs. Vaughn had spent most of her life in Montgomery county and had lived in Clarksville for a number of years. She was born on July 21, 1847, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Nick Bryant. Her husband, Spencer Vaughn, died several years ago. Surviving are one son, T J Vaughn, of Clarksville; two grandsons, R E and A B Vaughn; two granddaughters, Mrs. Elliott Smith and Mrs. Clarence Bryant, and fifteen great grandchildren, all of Montgomery county, and one brother, Trahern Bryant of Dallas, Texas. Mrs Vaughn was a devoted Christian. She had been a member of Stampers Chapel church since early childhood.
