- [S42] Obituary of John Bryant - Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle - 1918, (Name: The Leaf-Chronicle; Location: Clarksville, Tennessee; Date: 18 May 1918;), LIFELESS BODY OF J H BRYANT • Found Friday Night at Blankenship Boarding House.
Friday night about 8 o'clock, the lifeless body of Mr J H Bryant was found lying in a bed in a room of the Blankenship boarding house, this city. Undertaker McReynolds was called, who took the body to the morgue at his place of business, where it was prepared for burial. It is learned that on Thursday Mr Bryant told two or three friends in the city that he had seen a physician, who told him that his heart was very much affected and advised him if he had any business to be finally settled, he had better do so at once. He therefore saw Mr. McReynolds and gave him details in regard to his burial. Some time during the afternoon Friday he went to the room he had occupied Thursday night and nothing more was seen of him until Mr Blankenship found his body as above stated.
Mr Bryant was about 65 years old, and had lived most of his life near Rose Hill, this county, where he had reared a large family. In a blank book found in his pocket, he had written the name of a daughter, Mrs Mollie Shelby, Big Rock TN followed by a line requesting that if anything happened to him, she be notified, which was done this morning.
Mr Bryant was newly shaved and had put on clean underwear and had lain down with his clothes on.
