Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 AM in the Ivers and Alcorn Mission Chapel for Mark C Cathey, 66 for whose family Cathey Valley In Mariposa County was named. He died Wednesday following a short illness. Burial will be in the Merced Cemetery.
Cathey was a grandson of Andrew Cathey who came to California in 1849. In 1852 he settled with his family in Cathey Valley.
He is survived by his widow Pansy; four daughters, Mrs Fern Ross and Mrs Wanda Ross of Fresno, Mrs Betty McRree of Chowchilla, and Mrs Patricia Campbell Oakland; a brother Andrew Cathey of San Jose; two sisters, Mrs Mary Scott of Mariposa and Mrs Birdie Watson of Santa Cruz, and eight grandchildren.
