Marvin Claude Reed of Ironton, MO passed away on Tuesday, August 8th, at the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 17 days. He was born on June 22, 1936 to the late Claude and Anna Jackson Reed in Fredericktown, MO.
On September 29, 1979 Marvin was united in marriage to Beverly "Diane" Maxfield who survives. Also surviving are four children, Judy Kopfman of Pilot Knob, MO, Mike Reed and long-time companion Cindy Light of Black, MO, Beverly Allen of Ironton, MO, Julie McDowell and husband Keith of Fenton, MO; three brothers, Sherman Edward Reed of Ironton, MO, Floyd Ray Reed and wife Marry Ann of Arcadia, MO, Wilson Gail Reed and wife Beverly of Arcadia, MO; two sisters, Geraldine Sikes and husband Everett of Fredericktown, MO, Shirley White and husband Danny of Arnold, MO; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Keeney of Arcadia, MO; one brother-in-law, Carl Pulley of Ironton, MO; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, a son, George Keeney, two brothers in infancy; two sisters, Lela Sherrills and Lula Mae Pulley, a granddaughter, Rachael Ann Reed, and a brother-in-law, Gerald Sherills.
As a child Marvin attended the Fredericktown School system, as a young man, Marvin joined the National Guard, and in 1955 he started his life-long career as a construction worker; it has been said that there isn't a roof in Ironton in which he hasn't been on top of. Marvin attended the Ironton First Baptist Church with Diane, worked hard to support his family for many years, and retired from construction at the age of 70.
Marvin was a kind and hard working man, he will be greatly missed.
A Life Celebration will be held for Marvin on Saturday, August 12, starting at 11:00 am from the Cole Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, August 11 beginning at 5:00 pm.
Interment will follow the services in the Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Farmington, MO. Pastor Calvin Jones will be officiating the services.
