According to marriage records, Thomas and his first wife, Sarah, were from New Amesbury, New Hampshire, and they were married by Reverend William Kelley. Thomas' name appears on the "alarms list" of 1775 at Warner, New Hampshire, at which time he served as a "night watch" or constable, and he later joined the Continental Army at Warner. He was appointed to administer his father's estate on October 26, 1790.
