• The body of Mrs Louisa Marian Cathey was sent to-day to Merced for burial. She died Wednesday at her home, after a residence of only a few months in this city. Mrs Cathey was a native of Kansas, aged 63 years. She was the widow of William P Cathey and leaves the following children: Mrs Merian M Bruce, Mrs Birdie Smith, Charles L Palmer, Andrew W, Mark and Curd N Cathey, and Mrs Mary Scott; Four sisters Mrs Annie Smith, Mrs William Dunning, Mrs Frank Clow, and Mrs I D Stockton, and two brothers William and N E Duncan survive her.

Charles DeLong built the house on ranch land along the Mann Brothers’ Trail, which ran from Mariposa to Wawona and on into Yosemite Valley over Chowchilla Mountain following old Indian trails.
1859-1873
Meadow Creek Ranch became a stage stop for wagons and coaches carrying supplies and travelers into Yosemite and Mariposa. First known as White and Hatches and run by James H. Hatch and his uncle Dexter White. Later run by Delong and then by the next owner, Turner.
