VIETNAM — Pfc Lindsay Clinton Turner 20 of Rt 1 Edgemoor was killed by shrapnel here Aug 10.
Turner who was with the 3rd Marine Division in an artillery outfit entered the Marines in September and took his training at Parris Island. Arriving in Vietnam in March, he received the Purple Heart six weeks later.
The Edgemoore native was a graduate of Lewisville High where he played football and basketball and ran track. He had played baseball with the Chester Colt team. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and formerly worked at Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co.
Survivors include the parents C B and Irene Clinton Turner of Edgemoor; three brothers, Carl B Turner III of Rodman, Mackey Turner of Fort Lawn, and John Bryan Turner of the home; two sisters, Mattie Elaine Turner and Edith Irene Turner, both of the home; grandmothers, Mrs Louie Ratterree of Rock Hill and Mrs Carl B Turner of Fort Lawn.
