Adam Schroeppel died in Collinsville last Thursday morning at 12:01 o'clock after an illness of several months, aged 74 years, 6 months, and 20 days. His death was caused by a stroke of apoplexy. Deceased was born in St Louis Nov 22 1849, and in his youth taught in the Minden parochial schools, later removing to Collinsville. He was married April 23 1871 to Mary Hartman of Collinsville and she died March 29. Those who survive him are: Thirteen children: Mrs Clara Caff of Los Angeles; Raymond of East St Louis; Harry of Memphis Tenn; Mrs Hortense Meyer, Carl, Mrs Lydia Kingsbury and Mary of Chicago, Eugene and Helmuth of St Louis, Emma Annette and Albert Schroeppel and Mrs Hattie Combs of Collinsville; twenty three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He had served as justice of the peace in Collinsville for twenty years and was said to have married thousands of couples. The funeral was held Sunday in the Lutheran church at Collinsville and interment was made in the Holy Cross cemetery.
