Edice Ray Smith was the son of Mack Smith and Myrtle (Sanderson) Smith Post.
He was married 1st to Clara Twomey and to 2nd to Janice (Lund) Blankenship.
A resident of Nashville, Tennessee, he passed away on August 28, 2014.
Preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eleanor (Smith) Horn, son Edice Ray Smith Jr, and by his wives, he is survived by a brother; sister; four married sons; two step-daughters, thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
At the end of WWII, he was a Midshipman in the United States Navy, He was discharged following the conclusion of the war.
Funeral Services were held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nashville, and burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The funeral will be Monday at 10:00 am, by the Rev Brian Hooper at First Lutheran. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Edice’s grandchildren, and their spouses or fiancés will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Janice Lavonne (Lund) Smith, who resided in Nashville, Tenn., took her last physical breath on Feb. 9, 2014.
Janice was born to Anton and Doris Lund in Plainfield on Aug. 5, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, youngest brother, Richard (WA) Lund, brother-in-law, Dale Winkey, and one nephew, Chuck Winkey. In addition, she was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Janice graduated from Price Lab School in Cedar Falls and shortly thereafter boarded a train for nursing school in Tennessee. She ended up spending her life in the Nashville area, but her heart and soul were always in Iowa. Home for Janice was her sisters' farm in the country. Many wonderful memories were made over the years whether it was simply sitting on the front porch late into the evening on a hot muggy night, or getting roped into driving the tractor on the baler.
She is survived by her husband, Edice Smith; two daughters, Karen and Kathy Blankenship; three grandchildren, Kristin Poppe, Evan Stamey (Ashley), and Katy Poppe; her sister Shirley Winkey, of Shell Rock; brother Donald (Darlene) Lund, of Oklahoma City; one aunt Marge Chandler, of Waverly; nieces Becky (Bruce) Winkey and Ellen (David) Doese; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews in Iowa and scattered across the country.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to Memorial Lutheran Church, 1211 Riverside Drive, Nashville, TN 37206 or Room in the Inn, P.O. Box 25309, Nashville, TN 37203.
A gathering of family and friends to share memories of Janice and her life will be held Monday, May 26 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock at the fellowship hall from 1 to 4.

Janice Lavonne Smith, age 86 of Nashville, left the physical world on February 9, 2014 to start her spiritual journey with God.
Janice was born to Anton Lund and Doris Manson in Plainfield, IA. Janice married the love of her life, Edice Ray Smith later in life, and they enjoyed 16 years of bliss.
In addition, Janice is survived by two daughters, Karen and Kathy Blankenship; three grandchildren, Kristin Poppe, Evan (Ashley) Stamey and Katy Poppe, and one Nashville niece, Nancy Cartwright. She is also survived by four step-sons, Larry (Diane) Smith, Rand (Beth) Smith, Jeff (Ann) Smith and Marty (Pam) Smith, and thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren (Olivia & William Smith Olsen and Raleigh Fisher), whom she adored.
