GEBHARDT, FRED R. "GEBBY," of St Petersburg, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was born in New York City and came here in 1977 from Rochester NY, where he was a district manager for Frito Lay for 14 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran in World War II and the Korean War. He was a marching band drill designer for high school and college marching bands, including Syracuse University, the Naval Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, and King High School, Blake High School, Plant High School, and Alonso High School, all in Tampa, and Northeast Seminole and Tarpon Springs high schools, all in Pinellas County, as well as numerous other high schools around the country. He designed field shows for the Greater St Petersburg Area Second Time Arounders Marching Band. He was also a contest adjudicator, clinician, and consultant. For 10 years, he was a school bus driver for handicapped children with the Pinellas County School System. He was Methodist. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Leota A "Lee"; a son, Dan L Drake, Chicago; two daughters, Christine A Probst, Rochester, and Gloria M Jenny, Sherburne NY; a sister, Lorraine May, East Meadow, NY; and four grandchildren.
