She learned hand-thrown pottery and soon had her own pottery studio with a pottery wheel and kilns and made her own glazes. In the fine arts she painted in oils, watercolors, and pastels and became highly skilled at china painting. Her family members treasure many examples of her arts and crafts. Among her other interests was antique collecting. She owned and managed an antique shop in Longwood and became active in square dancing and owned and managed a square dance hall in Longwood. She was one of the founders of the Hoe-downers of Casselberry, a round and square dance club that is still active today. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful care they provided her. Mary made many friends at The Bridge and was known there for her strength and for her dry wit and great smile. In Mary's passing, her daughter Margaret loses her Mother, her inspiration, her friend. All Mary's family will miss her and will cherish her memory. Mary Ellis Raney will forever be in our hearts.
