Newfoundland, Canada, Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1850-1949 - [S1970] Obituary of Edward Bonia, (Name: The Evening Telegram; Location: St Johns, Newfoundland; Date: 3 Mar 1898;), Obituary of Edward G "Ned" Monia.
Mr. Edward Bonia, of Placentia, whose death has already been chronicled, was very generally known in many parts of Newfoundland, and was especially known and esteemed around Placentia and St. Mary's Bays. Hecarried on for years the trade of a smith in Placentia, and nearly all the farmers and boat- owners in that Bay got their iron work done by him. Besides, In Early Railway Days, he had put through his hands an immense quantity of work connected with that enterprise. His business was extensive, and would have given him wealth if he had been spared a few years more. Personally, poor "Ned" was a favorite all around; frank, generous, and hig principled, a good son, brother and husband. Placentia grieves over his early grave, and sympathies will not be wanting to his stricken family. - R.I.P.
