Services for Singleton Mills Dye, 80, of Clarksdale, who died of cancer today, April 21, 1995, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, will be at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Oakridge Cemetery with the Revs Andy Ray and Millsaps Dye Jr officiating. Nowell Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs Dye was born June 27, 1914 in Carthage. She was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and received her masters degree in elementary education and supervision at Delta State University, where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a retired teacher and principal at Oakhurst School. She was a charter member of St Paul's United Methodist Church, where she served as trustee, communion steward and Sunday School teacher of St Paul's Bible Class. She was also a study teacher and president of the United Methodist Women. Mrs Dye was treasurer of Cleveland District United Methodist Women for two years and was a member of the nominating committee. She was a hostess for Intentional Growth Center of Lake Junaluska Assembly in North Carolina for two years, a member of the Clarksdale Women's Club, the American Association of University Women and the AARP nominating committee. She was the widow of Allen Millsaps Dye Sr. Survivors include one daughter, Mary DeSha Montgomery of Jackson; two sons, the Rev. Allen Millsaps Dye Jr of Lake Junaluska NC, and David Benson Dye of Atlanta; one brother, Lewis Garrett Mills of Carthage; and four grandchildren, Kevin Andrew Montgomery and Eric Millsaps Montgomery, both of Jackson, and Christi DeSha Dye and Mary Allen Dye, both of Spruce Pine NC. Visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St Paul's United Methodist Church, the Intentional Growth Center or the charity of the donor's choice.
