~ Samuel Smith Memorial Park, within the GH Smith Cemetery on Fort Campbell, Kentucky (Cemetery is within the Montgomery County, Tennessee portion of the base) - The white pine tree was brought to TN as a seedling by Samuel Smith from Granville Co., NC in 1833. A history found in the Clarksville, TN, library states that the tree has been designated as the Samuel Smith Landmark Tree by the TN Urban Forestry Council and with its 135 ft height and age of 175 years is one of the largest and oldest living trees in Tennessee
